Seattle Works – A Model for Other Cities! June 6, 2012

Last month we received this incredible email that truly touched us.  We had to share with you!

Hi! Our youngest son, 25, moved to Seattle last November and his experience with Seattle Works has been great! I’m so impressed with your model that I’d like to learn how to replicate it in our city. I am not a young, dynamic, emerging leader – I am “of a certain age” but still dynamic and really committed to community organizing for the good of the community and those who are seeking community.

I believe our city of about 120,000 with a private, 4-year undergrad and graduate university and a growing young professional community is ready and eager for something like this. Right now we have a plethora of nonprofits, many of which have their own volunteer coordinators. What we do not have is a coordinated network that is easy to access and plug into for young adults ready and willing to get engaged.

So, I’m pumped. Who can give me more information? Has your program been replicated in other cities? What kind of financial support do you need to begin? Can’t wait to learn more.

Great work!

We’re so glad that we could pump you up Victoria!  And we’re thrilled your son found us and got involved in his new community.  Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing this happy note.  Cheers to you!
