You’ve seen us tweeting, facebooking, and being all around excited about the new round of HandsOn Leadership starting Thursday 10/25. Been wondering what exactly is so great about it and why you should take it? Here are five very good reasons to sign-up.
1. You want to make a meaningful impact on a nonprofit.
At Seattle Works we have a lot of great ways to be involved, but it can be hard to find a significant project at a nonprofit where you can take ownership and see the difference you’re making. At the end of every HandsOn Leadership course our graduates are given the option of signing up to work in teams of 3 and manage a 2 to 9 month project with a partner nonprofit. We have some great ones lined up for fall! And have done some awesome projects in the past!
2. You’re ready to take on a leadership role.
You’re not just a volunteer, you’re a leader and want to make a big difference in your community. Which is why taking classes by nonprofit experts in things like conflict resolution, volunteer management, and project management just makes sense.
3. You want new skills.
Starting out in the nonprofit world? Just graduated? Changing careers? Retired? Whatever stage you’re at, it’s never a bad time to brush up or learn new skills. And our volunteer faculty? They’re pretty amazing. We’ll cover fundraising, working with nonprofits, community engagement, and more.
4. You want to meet other emerging leaders.
The other people who are taking this class? They’re pretty awesome too. And passionate. And looking to get involved just like you are. Which means that five years from now? These are the people in the nonprofit world you’re going to want to know.
5. You’re excited about one of the projects we’re offering.
Have you seen the sneak peek? That’s not even all of the projects we’ll be offering participants to choose from this fall, and once you graduate from HandsOn Leadership you’re eligible to sign-up for projects from future classes as well.
