“I hope you’ll join me on Saturday May 18, for Seattle Works’ mission-based fundraiser and largest annual day of service.
Here are the top 5 reasons I am excited about Seattle Works Day. I can’t wait to….
1) Work outside (in the sun) at a beautiful waterfront park
The foundation’s team has been assigned to an outdoor project at the lovely waterfront Carkeek park. So we will get to enjoy sunshine (fingers crossed) while giving back to our community!
2) Learn something new
EarthCorps is organizing our service project. They plan to get us ready to dig by sharing a brief history of Carkeek Park and reviewing the ecology of Northwest urban forests, their structure, plant species, and restoration techniques!
3) Get my hands dirty
We are going to use hand tools to remove unwanted plant life and prepare the ground for planting this winter.
4) Team up with colleagues, friends, and family
The foundation will cover registration for full-time employees, but we also encourage you to invite family and friends— they will just need to register separately.
5) Celebrate our day of service
Seattle Works is hosting an AfterParty for all participants at Fisher Pavilion in Seattle Center with food, music, and drinks. It will be a great opportunity to celebrate our hard work and come together as a community!
